The Braeswood Super Neighborhood hosted Gary Zika of the Harris County Flood Control District on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Linkwood Park (3699 Norris Drive) to share details on the Buffalo Speedway Bridge replacement and answer questions.
- Replacement began in the second quarter of 2018 and was completed in 2019 as part of Project Brays.
- During construction the bridge was completely closed in both directions.
- The new bridge has sidewalks and turning lanes in both directions.
History. The bridge was built in 1950 and originally named the Hugh Wilkin Bridge. The Houston Chronicle covered its opening on May 13, 1951.
